“Schaffhausen” [poem]
Line numbering (MS VIII)—In numbering the lines of this poem, Ruskin appears to have made a deliberate readjustment to his larger scheme of consecutively numbering lines of draft verse for the “Account”. See the entry for the poem in MS VIII: Contents, b.1.

Deleted line numbering (MS VIII)—Ruskin appears to have begun to write a line number starting with 11, but then changed his mind and deleted the number by scoring through, giving the deleted numbers the appearance of a pound sign (#).

Leveret (MS VIII; Poems [1891]; Works [1903])—“A young hare, strictly one in its first year” (“leveret, n.1”, OED Online, accessed 21 October 2017).
